The Man Is In Demand!

Eimhin Killilea is someone who is on the road and in the office throughout the year as his skills and expertise are desired by all the teams within The City Bin Co. HQ. The Man is in Demand!

What’s the first thing you do when you come to work?

When doing sales I would be in the city centre doing deliveries and talking with business owners, familiar faces and even tourists. Of course I am a coffee lover so have to have a cuppa in the morning for that extra boost of energy. When I arrive  to the office I turn on my computer and do a U-turn to the canteen to fulfill my coffee intake. No matter where I am whether on the road or in the office I always try to get people to smile even if they don't want to I’ll trick them into it!

What is the funniest thing that happened to you at work?

There is plenty of little & big funny things going on in here on a daily basis, I remember for my thirtieth birthday my colleagues landed a fancy cake in front of me when I was deep in conversation and not aware, I was very embarrassed but could not stop laughing. It's such a fun place to work. Only two weeks ago all of the guys here at HQ put makeup on for the #makeupselfie to raise money for a Irish cancer charity, we had a great laugh when we were doing it and for such a great cause.

Favourite day at work?

Friday! My favorite day at work is always Friday especially friday evening before I get to go and pick up my son and head down home for the weekend. I always come back in on the Monday after in a much more cheery form than usual !

What is your favorite part of the day?

No matter if I am on the road or in the office, it has to be dealing with all the new people I speak to, like a mixed bag of ingredients you can make wondrous opportunities out of meeting new people, networking, being friendly and helpful. Just being out there and making connections on the ground.

What hobbies do you have?

I won’t lie, I love to socialize  meet new people and have fun with the ones I know already, I have a passion for cooking. I  have a devotion to following  rugby. I steward at the Connaught matches whenever I have the time & hope to go playing for one last season with whatever club will have me! I enjoy getting out on my boat either on lough Corrib for the serenity or out on Galway bay where I love to sit and watch the sun go down.

What sports do you practice?

Depending on the time of year I’d have a few. It’s now April so Fly Fishing for Trout has begun again. There is nothing better than getting back to nature and trying to trick the fish with a bit of feather! Throughout the year I enjoy surfing, swimming, walking, hiking, skipping, boxing & hopefully taking up rugby again after a long absence.

There is one question I was not asked, so I will ask myself: What is the best thing about working for The City Bin Co?

We are like a family full of variety that all get along , and that to me is what makes us different from so many other companies. For myself personally I love to deal with our customers on an individual basis and help them in any way I can, to give them that sense of pride I have in this company. From managers to the lads on the back of the trucks everyone’s ideas and thoughts are taken on board by the top brass to keep improving both customer experience as well as employees experience. It is good to be different and experience that difference in such a positive way.

Coffee Is For Closers!

The Flying Bin Blog presents a day in the life of James Kent, head of Sales at The City Bin Co., a champion of excellent customer service and lover of all things Arsenal. James started with the company in 2004. In the Famous 1984 film called Glengarry Glenross Alec Baldwin’s Character Blake tells his sales team that ‘Coffee is for closers’ and that is why James deservingly has his coffee every morning!

What’s the first thing you do when you come to work?

Arriving to work for me is different every day because I don’t always start my day in the office. The first thing I do when I arrive at HQ is serve myself a cup of coffee from our fantastic nespresso machine.

What is the funniest thing that happened to you at work?

Beating our MD at table soccer in our canteen.  The celebration was very funny particularly after losing the first 10 games to him.  I’d say he still has nightmares!!!

Favourite day at work?

My favourite day at work was when I had the pleasure of meeting the Chairman of averda, Mr Sukkar at our HQ in Oranmore.  It was a very proud day for the management team of The City Bin Co. and one that I was proud to be part of and will never forget.

What is your favourite part of the day?

I don’t have a specific favourite part of the day but I love when we receive customer compliments. They can arrive at any time of the day and they really put a smile on my face.

What is the last thing you do before going home?

Plan the plan for tomorrow or for the evening when I get home.

What hobbies do you have?

I’m a diehard Arsenal Fan.  I try to go to The Emirates 2 – 3 times every year.  I collect old Arsenal programmes, Pin Badges, Scarfs and signed memorabilia.  Yes it’s true, I did have an Arsenal duvet on my bed until I got married.  Yes, curtains too!

What sports do you practice?

I play hurling and soccer but nothing competitive like years ago.

Favourite Saying?

No Excuses, Just Results.
