A musical based on Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's low budget Dublin film 'Once' was the toast of New York this week after scooping eight Tony awards

The City Bin Co. has also had a taste of success in the music business!

In September 2010, The City Bin Co. supported two employees, Parisch and Oisin Browne, in their ambitious bid to write and release a song. All proceeds went to Hand in Hand Children's Cancer Charity, The City Bin Co.’s charity of choice. They enlisted local singer, John Gaughanto add the vocals.

Parisch and Oisin came up with the idea while brainstorming ways to help the charity. They both enjoy song writing as a hobby and decided to go for the DIY option and recorded a song on Oisin's eight track home studio.

According to Oisin, "We sat down to write a song about a serious topic, but one that was also uplifting and with a positive message. It took a few attempts to get it right but I think we nailed it." Although Oisin has admitted that he has been prone to singing a song or two at 6am while working on the back of a bin truck, he never imagined that his song would be played on the radio.  The  song titled 'That's What You Do' received local and national radio play reaching no 19 in Ireland's music charts.

This ambitious pair of bin men had a goal: To get the song into the charts and raise awareness of the charity. They also raised money for the charity through the sales and royalties of the single. Job Done!
